Not many people know this but our subconscious mind has incredible powers, that can be yielded to work for us in amazing ways. This post is about one of the ways it can be used.
Some time ago when I did competitive kickboxing I met a woman through work who was a master of mental training. I worked with her a couple of times where we talked about how I could train my mind to become an overall better kickboxer. One of the things I struggled with at the time was disbelief, in my own ability to beat my opponent. My trainer told me something that i still use in many aspects of my life.
- Our subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between a lie and the truth.
- Our subconscious mind controls our feelings.
This means that we can programme our subconscious mind, anyway we want and to a large extent control our own feelings. If you’re about to give the most important presentation in your professional career, or play the most important game or something else that means the world to you, wouldn’t it be better to feel confidence instead of anxiety? Don’t you think you perform better, when you perform like a champion?
In my own example I tricked my subconscious mind to believing that I was the champion of the world in kickboxing, and as a results my subconscious mind started acting like I was the champ. I got calmer, had better breathing and it helped me tremendously to become a better kickboxer.
Next time you face an important task try to do the following:
- Find a place where you are alone and you are sure no one can hear you
- Tell yourself loudly that you are the best in the world, to do the task you are about to face
- Tell yourself multiple times and believe that it is true
Soon you will start to feel the power of your subconscoius mind pushing you, to be the best you can be.
